[CATCH A GLIMPSE] A BRIEF REVIEW OF SUMMER ANIME 2015


Our response when we're being asked why we're obviously too late. Rest assured, we cool.

It's our usual with our ordinary rule except this time we're trying to value things until the third episode and put them in rank as usual. Nonetheless, we still write the synopsis only from the first episode.

45. Makura no Danshi

 

Merry is going to heal your tired heart. Be it sucks boss, loser stranger, or anything else that ruin your day, just lax your muscle and relax your mind on bed just with these 'Pillow Boys'. They will be doing anything you need as long as you respond to their dialogue.

Who the hell is in charge of the story review? Well, I'm just exemplifying how they do things. You see, when you were younger I might assume you ever watched Dora the Explorer, right? Dora had always asked you to do something bothersome with her half-assed and pain-in-the-ass-in-the-same-time repetitive questions all the episodes. If you were growing older girl right now and in your growing you growing fond to anime, this might be kind of your things, especially when you see the world isn't as nice as you expected. If Merry in the first episode doesn't suit you well, there is still a range of man. Be it Ojisan, cool, twin, childish, you mention the type.









 How to ruin Dragon Ball in a few episodes.

44. Dragon Ball Super

 

Following Majin Buu aftermath fierce battle, Son Gokuu had saved many lives with the Dragon Ball after he saved the world with finishing moves, Super Genkidama. Now our hero is simply plowing soil since he has to make money or his wife, Chi-Chi got mad. Even so, the peace in Earth lasts but a while. Kaioshin and Rou Dai no Kaioshin has detected stronger threat following planets destruction one after another.

I don't know if it's a right decision to continue this series in episodes since the battle with Beerus had already covered in movie with no clear results nor a particular aim. The manga of Dragon Ball is really amazing but the anime in 90's isn't. They take too many of their time to waste. One episode could only maintain Gokuu in Super Saiyan Jin (SSJ) mode, the rock flying, and nothing really happened. 

A few years hence they release Dragon Ball Kai, a remaster and shorter version of Dragon Ball Z which began from the most important and the series of arc they got their fame at most to wit, Frieza, Cell, and Majin Buu. It's good news for those who want to rewatch or for new viewer but the problem comes hereafter. Back then the series released Dragon Ball GT which intended at that time as the direct sequel of Dragon Ball Z. When they have been trying to take back Dragon Ball into the initial genre, adventure, it is happened that it didn't really sell. Thus they get it back to battle-action genre and it didn't last long. 

But now, they try once again by making use the momentum of Dragon Ball Kai end to release this newly series. Instead of providing the series with a new enemy, they just reuse Beerus. So I'm going to underline the problem:

1. The timeline of Dragon Ball is altered and led to bias as well as the more confusing term of SSJ;


Of course you can put Dragon Ball Super prior to Dragon Ball GT but it doesn't make any sense. It's true that their kid like Trunks is getting the adult version in Dragon Ball GT, but actually the strongest version of SSJ, so far, is in the Dragon Ball Super called Super Saiyan God Super Saiyan. Before that, in Dragon Ball Z: God and God movie (Dragon Ball Z: Battle of Gods in worldwide release) there is Super Saiyan God and Saiyan beyond God. God, please drop the "God" title already. The name itself is starting to make nonsense.


2. They seemed to air and extend everything as long as it sells without taking some proper consideration into account;


Some series of Dragon Ball isn't really popular as much as Dragon Ball Z, but rather the movie is. The movie was always scoring a huge sales lead to another good sales of merchandise. That was always the industry wanted but anime isn't only about sales, it is an art. There has been 15 movies including the latest one Dragon Ball Z: Fukkatsu no F (Dragon Ball Z: Resurrection 'F') but the more stories expanding, the more it leads to confusion. 

The movie is once again using Frieza as the main enemy but now in golden form and our heroes got a new color for his hair which led him to nearly god power. So what's next? You got a Silver Cell or Scarlet Buu for the next movie, or Super God Baby from Dragon Ball GT is having revenge? It's understood that you want to reach the grown-ups who has watched Dragon Ball in their childhood but please, least of all you get to make more proper stories if you want to make it huge and everlasting.


In fact, I have been a big fan of Dragon Ball series since I have grown with it. I am going to watch every Dragon Ball movie if they want to make any more of it. I love Dragon Ball more than any Marvel or DC heroes since Gokuu is stronger than Superman and he is getting stronger now, heheh. But I wouldn't want to watch this Dragon Ball Super series until someone I know said, "Hey, it's good. They have something in the end." Regards, from one insignificant fan.


Sake is the best couple for single and food.

 

43. Wakako-zake

 

Introducing Murasaki Wakako, a 26 years old single, who always takes detour and enjoys various meal and local delicacies alone before really going home. Watch Wakako tries various combination of food and drink and savors the taste in any way you might never try it out before.

If only they could draw Wakako more properly, she may quite a dish. But the main topic here is the Wakako activity especially when she nourish herself over the dish. As for the first episode actually the way she eat looks quite exaggerating things as typical anime does. The food really looks delicious, though. If you are a career woman or late home worker and get a chance to watch this, you may be going to enjoy the way you eat in a different way than ever. Some people might think this anime leaves a weird taste, but even in only its 2 minutes duration, I can say it's good.






An anime with tennis as the theme in the first place, but barely doing that in the end.

 

  Fifth season of Teekyuu

 

42. Teekyuu 5


Shinjou Kanae is asking everyone to make takoyaki. While everyone is going bananas as usual, Takamiya Nasuno and Bandou Marimo is putting something strange that might not be able to broadcast in the series.

Just how many episodes it needed for them to play tennis for real? At any rate, the show is amusing as ever. While the anime looks fooling themselves around, it actually took a skillful voice artist to voice them since the dialogue is really fast and it was intended as the part of joke as well. I can't believe they can do the saying without flaw. The Qunka! song  performed by Hanazawa Kana is officially being the opening of the show. As usual the series is using famous title of movie as their episode title. The series directly keep the show goes on from the last season and it will continue to Teekyu 6 right after it ends. All you need just spare your 2 minutes to laugh at their act.

41. Hetalia: The World Twinkle

 

There are about 200 wondrous nation-cats (Nekotalia) around the world. Some of them create their circle called G-8, consist of America-cat, England-cat, France-cat, Germany-cat, Italy-cat, Canada-cat, Japan-cat, and last Russian-cat. They often hold meeting to discuss their household policy as well as decide on trade of canned cat food. Each of them has distinctive personality and farcical relationship to others. Presently, there is some drop of income from the owner of Euro-nation cats and it grows worries amongst them. Nevertheless, they still manage to live content life.

The show is back with cats as the other seasons. Veteran viewers get to know that this series is simply parodying not only the history but the current state of world as well. European country recession that lead to global economy deceleration, Abenomics output which not as good as expected, China-Hong Kong relation, and many more will you see if you follow the series. If you think those current state is hardly inexplicable as well as the colony in World War II, rest assured. Instead of making you think thoroughly, the series will make you fond of the cuteness of the nation embodiment in cat figure or in silly manner of kakkoii man.




Every good things have always come to an end someday. Please end this one for me right now. 

 

  Third part of Junjou Romantica stories

 

40. Junjou Romantica 3

 

Takahashi Misaki has advanced to fourth year of his college. It's been three years with Usami Akihiko whom he has been living with in Usami's posh condo. While  Misaki spent his time to do housework in return of rent he is also Usami's lover with a questionable relationship so far. One day, Misaki's brother visit them and remind Misaki to leave the condo as he will graduate one year later as he promised before. When Misaki planned to reveal his relationship with Usami to his brother, he is actually still unsure about his feeling and relationship towards Misaki. When those thought crossed in minds, another love rival is yet to come.

 I don't know whether the anime coming has something to do with LGBT movement since it released right after the issue but I think it is not since it's more likely targeted after the female audiences who love BL considering the tone of the color and the design character. The animation quality is as plain as I have less reference about anime made by Studio DEEN, assuredly except Fate/Stay Night. The anime has quite 'wild' act that will make the viewers screams crazily in equal loudness for boys and girls. While the girls who love BL will scream "Kyaa.." the boys will be like " Gyaaa.." and they continue to say "....... disgusting". You know I am trying to make a joke here, please laugh for me since I have to overcome this ordeal to watch this. Yeah, at least I got to listen the ending song which is the nicest thing of this anime. The sound of guitar melody is really bulbous and rounded.

It's no telling if you love the kind of BL it will suit your taste well not to mention the big name of Junjou series that as for the Junjou Romantica alone has run up to third season. The truth is, this anime is really popular actually.

39. Wooser no Sono Higurashi: Mugen-hen

 

Wooser, an adorable creature on the outer figure yet inside he desires for money, meat, and girls. He was piloting Mecha Wooser to fight enemy space armada and turning into Trans-Am Mode. Later in the aftermath of the battle, he and his mecha robot left stranded in space, until he found himself in a luminous light when he was losing consciousness. There he met Ultraman Zero along with other member of Ultimate Force Zero (UFZ). They remind him of the precious people and place he has to protect. By the help of them, Wooser succesfully made it back to Earth, but it appeared that he landed in random island. Can he made it back to home?

Behind the simple anime of Wooser (read Uusaa in Japanese) there has been always a lot of surprise. This time they make parody of Gundam 00 in which Darth Wooser is playing role as Tieria Erde. It's funny because both of Darth Wooser and Tieria Erde is voiced by the very same person, Kamiya Hiroshi. Ultraman Zero and the rest of UFZ consist of Glen Fire, Mirror Knight, and Jean-bot, was also made a brief appearance as a cameo here. It is also hapened that Ultraman Zero and Wooser shares the same voice actor, Mamoru Miyano. You also can see UFZ action figures and Ultraman Zero in the house of Wooser. It doesn't stop there, the way Wooser moves from one land to another is depicting Pokemon or any games you ever saw in 32-bit or 64-bit system. In addition to Wooser desires for money, meat and girls, the script is also made by Gen Urobuchi who is notorious for dark and complex story. But rest assured, Wooser anime is totally safe to watch for everyone, even for kids.

Our lovely poker-faced android idol dressed in checkerboard skirt, Miss Monochrome has back. While continuing her frugal life, she is still trying to catch up super idol Kikuko. One day, Ruu-chan suggests her to increase her fanbase by holding first tour and selling her very first album. Eh, Maneo "Manager"-san, do you really understand what does the tour and album mean, right?

If Hatsune Miku's voice comes partly from voice actress Saki Fujita, Miss Monochrome voice came from another famous one of singer and voice actresses, Horie Yui. Even better, Horie Yui herself who created the initial design character, had Miss Monochrome to sing one of her song right at the concert, "Horie Yui wo Meguru Bouken III ~Secret Mission Tour~." In a series of rising, Miss Monochrome had appeared in a range of merchandise and media as well as social network game, "Girlfriend (Beta)". Like in any worldwide business that a product has always had a rival in market, Miss Monochrome could be considered takes Hatsune Miku on rivalry as 3D virtual idol with artificial pitch and tone, let alone the long twintail and miniskirt aspect that resembles Miku as anyone apprehend. While it actually she still needs a long way either to stand up against Miku in real world or Kikuko as in anime, Miss Monochrome innocent face and comical act is evident to snatch fans from another league of idol.



Oh right, it's not the first time they sugarcoating tragedy with cutesy.

 

37. Gakkou Gurashi!

 

Takeya Yuki loves the school so much. She loves messing around, sleeping in class, and always coming by to her club, School Life Club with Yuuri "Rii-san" Wakasa as the leader, Miki "Mii-kun" Naoki and Kurumi Ebisuzawa as the other member. Though what Yuki actually was doing is just loitering around and slacking off all day, everyone seems fine as long as Yuki feels happy in mind since the reality is too harsh to be perceived.

I was almost dead out of boredom watching it in the beginning but things get better (or worse?), a little, in the end of episode. Lerche always tends to adapt the series which actually the original source itself has harsh theme yet sugarcoated in bright color and casual character so that the dark atmosphere is a bit relieved. Danganronpa and Ansatsu Kyoshitsu is good instance of this case. But hey, I like these part of Lerche. Gakkou Gurashi is not bad, but the first episode isn't really good either. I see that they want to give the immense impact to viewers while preparing the momentum right to the end. But as I see it, the "filler" before the twist is just like spinning out time. Watching Yuki prying into things was really tiring. But as Yuki have faith in things, we may need to believe things will get better as time goes by.

36. Venus Project -Climax-

 

Set in near future when the technology of idol entertainment called Formula Venus is advanced, Hara Eriko is one of top eight Rookie Queen of Formula Venus. Along with her fellow under the same management, Nureha Miu, she has to defeat another contestant including Sovagasky Ruka that won't let her do as she pleases since she get the best of Ruka once.

So, here is the problem. If you make the giant things battle each other with all the flash and blast amid the idol singing on stage, which one you are going to look at? It's obvious that I am going to look at the idol since theirs outfit is quite revealed. To be frank it's really bad idea to combine giant creatures battle with idol onstage performance. The animation is also poorly performed. The good point they come up with fair design character and distinguishing costume. 









So since they had bubbleheads, it is telling about their kind of silly act? Pretty makes sense.

 

35. Suzakinishi the Animation

 

Nishi Asuka is a transfer student in school. Just when she was introducing herself, Suzaki Aya has rushed to class. It turns out that she was also a new student. When both playing tennis in P.E., a suspicious man comes to them. 

Genre: Comedy

It was a radio program delivered by voice actresses Nishi Asuka and Suzaki Aya before an announcement that the program will be adapted to an anime starred by them. Theme song is also performed by them. The anime deal is seemed all about them but the story. Instead of taking their voice actresses backstory career or something else like that, they would rather use an ordinary high school student as the setting. The story is moreover only for about 4 minutes. In order to make up for the duration, they add some comical joke and mischief that match with the appearance of the character. I thought they did their best in 4 minutes.







Guess, is it a boy or is it a girl? Come on, quick!

 

34. Aoharu X Kikanjuu

 

Tachibana Hotaru is a girl but she likes to dress like a boy. She wants to help her friends that deceived by a host namely Matsuoka Masamune. Having a high concern to uphold justice, she just went through to settle it all at once. Rather than having a physical fight, Masamune takes her on a 'Survival Games' duel that soon change her life.

Looks like the game so-called 'Survival Games' or actually Airsoft Gun is really popular in Japan lately. There is some anime which takes same theme before like Stella Jogakuin Koutou-ka C³-bu and Sabagebu! All of them is starring the girl as the main character but Aoharu X Kikanjuu has more winning point. The character is a girl who likes to attire as a boy and she is surrounded by a cool guy which could develop a comedy romance forth considering the nature of the heroine is violent yet a little tsundere. Hotaru's figure will remind you of Tsugumi Seishiro from Nisekoi series while actually both are voiced by the same person, Komatsu Mikako. Since it's series about a gun battle, it needs a lot of dynamic action and the animation was well portrayed to illustrate the enjoyment of Airsoft gun battle. The color is also well balanced. Over all, the series is worth to enjoy.






Senki Zesshou Symphogear GX: Another too much word in one title

33. Senki Zesshou Symphogear GX: Believe in Justice and Hold a Determination to Fist.

 

After an operation to save Mr. Nastassja body from collision, everyday is going normal. Even Maria Cadenzavna Eve and Kazanari Tsubasa were able to hold their concert in London. Even so, right after that, Maria was attacked by mysterious woman. Along with Tsubasa, they have a fierce battle with that woman. In other place there is a fire accident and Tachibana Hibiki and Chris Yukine has been sent to help. There Hibiki meets someone.

Couldn't they fight without singing? They're always singing everywhere and I'm fed up with that since only the last one is good. Symphogear as ever always provides impressive and clean animation compared to others in addition to agile fight yet lively atmosphere of the characters in their ordinary life. Supported by many superb voice actresses that freaks otaku deeply love, this is the one of many anime that a fan has been waiting for the sequel, of course if you had known it before. You might have no idea for what happens if you haven't watched the prequel. As long as you keep watching you may get a grip.

32. Million Doll

 

Sumire "Suuko" is a zaitaku hikikomori (shut-in) idol otaku. She helps people notice and aware lots of idol groups and solo by the power of blogging. Thanks to her, Fukuoka Idol Group, Itorio and the underground idol, Mariko is gaining more attention. Suuko despised how "DD" people such as Ryuu always appeared at idol concert just to seek attention from the idol yet talks bad behind their back. However, it was fate which makes every one of them crossing path.

There is always one or two anime who brings idol up to the surface in every season as the theme but this anime takes the different perspective for the main heroine. I think this my first time to watch this theme applied in the anime as I'm aware. The story outset is good by bringing respective viewpoint of characters. The animation is using a keen color and it's tone and texture is still even although they used thin outline on the characters. This technique can work well but when this rendered to 3D effect as Itorio appeared, it just became awful. The anime is providing viewers with colloquial explanation in term of otaku idol. If you want to know the meaning of zaitaku and Darenimo Daisuki hence "DD" as I wrote above you can watch the anime.

 Correlating the real world with the anime, the anime is also faithful to showing one part of wotagei (wota dance) as an important part of recent pop culture which always performed by some people in the midst of idol performance. Wota is the term of idol otaku or in the least, a fan of idol. One part of wotagei dance is kecha dance, derived from the same name of a traditional dance in Bali, which had been showed in anime. Kecha is only one part of chants and dance series performed by the wota. Though there is series of chants and dance called MIX that can be applied universally for every songs of idol and voice actresses, there is also certain different moves made by fans for different artist. If you want to know more about the moves you can read this article as well as practicing it straight away.

If I recall, some major popular idol anime didn't show this kind of thing rather a bunch of people swinging light stick. It could be understood that they want to reach more viewers by providing things considered normal. But inserting something different is the one that distinguish you from the rest.

31. Ushio to Tora


Aotsuki Ushio always had a quarrel, if it's not a fight, against his dad, Aotsuki Shigure. As a son of Head Priest of Aotsuki Shrine he always be told by his dad about a Legendary Beast Spear impaling a demon in order to seal the demon. Perceiving his dad was nuts, he runs into the captive demon for real when his dad was going on trip. As a consequence of discovery, the neighborhood is attacked by puny demon. In a bid to save his friend and his neighborhood he is forced to release the demon from the captivity. Will the demon bring salvation, or even show its true nature?

At a first glance, people will get to know that the anime is adaptation of the old series. The staff of the series  doesn't only maintain the old-looking animation and use old approach to introduce the stories with all ado of shonen style manga but also gives a modern touch to polish the anime. As a result of these effort, the anime looks like bring back the 90's anime to life with a distinct atmosphere due to its vibrant and shady color applied in the right time of scene. The demon is like a stupid version of Kurama, a nine-tailed demon fox from Naruto. 

In respect of its release, there is tons of manga author paying tribute by making illustrations. Some of them is the junior and fellow of the manga author, Kazuhiro Fujita, in Shonen Sunday. Such as Tatsuya Kaneda (Shounen Samurai Ragazzi) and Nobuyuki Anzai (Flame of Recca) even once ever became his assistant.



No matter how annoying your sister, you have to be grateful you have one.

 

30. Himouto! Umaru-chan

 

No one believes that Doma Umaru is sluggish, childish, and indolent when she is home. While she is outside she maintain a perfect figure, a renowned beautiful girl with intelligence, kind-heart, and popularity all combined. Everyone loves Umaru, a girl with no flaw. Yet her brother, Doma Taihei is the one who has to take care of her mess and doing all housework since the only things Umaru chooses to do is sleeping, gaming, watching TV, eating junk food, and drinking cola. No matter how fickle and fretful Umaru is, Taihei can't hate his ostentible and lovable sister.

Apparently Umaru is annoyed to his brother. Did Taihei forget something?

This is one of anime that people really bring out a surge of interest even before the anime is really aired. Then the market as always responds this adorable tiny figure emergence by releasing the action figure, Nendoroid for example. I thought it would be released as short anime when I had read the preview but it turns out in regular duration anime. The story is entertaining at first but for some people it may be boring if they continue forth. Don't worry about the story. They think it through thoroughly. Some people on internet provide me spoiler and they don't alert me any warning tag before it. Looks like they want to be a hero faster than anyone else. In my opinion, Umaru in normal mode is a beautiful chick.

The sign of eighth card is revealed. But it's summer break! Looks like having the urge of buying swimsuit and transferring mana is going first before any battle else for Ilyasviel von Einzbern, Chloe von Einzbern, Miyu Edelfelt, and friends.

The anime that starring a little girls but not safe to be seen by any little girls out there. No, it's not safe to be seen by any children at all. The anime is exploiting underage girls, the elementary schooler to be more accurate, as always. The only unsafe part is the french kiss and we have no idea why on earth they could find that way. The whole anime is following industry standard. Animation, battle scene, and soundtrack is just moderate. In addition to french kiss, please mind your surrounding since the anime provides high-pitched lolis talk and all exaggerated voice in their reaction and sensuous part. The story is actually good though by all means the depth isn't as great as other Fate series since it's more into the fanservice.

Never count out the smallest thing but don't sweat it as well.

28. Working!!!


Inami Mahiru is getting better to get control of their androphobia of guys while her feeling to Takanashi Souta remains unchanged. In kitchen, Souma Hiroomi has never been bored to tease his fellow chef, Satou Jun for not working out his love toward Todoroki Yachiyo. Taneshima Popura gets a little girl as head-pat rival that takes Souta hand away from her. This time Aoi Yamada gets to find a woman for Otoo Hyougo so that her plan to get adopted is a big success! Though peculiarity is an ordinary in Wagnaria as always, flower bud of love is enjoying take its time before it truly blossoms.

An old anime that could be considered successful at the time is making another shot to rejoice their fans as well as reintroduce the series to new audience. The anime is only for about 8 minutes so I guess it only takes a couple of minutes to repair your mood for the rest of day if you decide to watch this series.

Another harem with trainer and trainee relation pattern. The initial premise ws good but the anime seemingly doesn't really put much deal about it. Even so, they put the last minute segment to explain the circumstances of the world. It could work either way. The anime filled with beauties with nice sculptured... okay, okay, chest and body. As you can see with these pattern and the appearances of the good-looking girls, the anime brings forth to you the fanservices. Though actually it becomes common trivials in anime. At least you get to see the girls in underwear. The anime has nice colouring, setting, and effect but lack in dynamic movement while battle. I like the way they composed the comedy during the process of story. Each of characters has unique traits to follow. Finally, the anime gives some good reasons to continue watching the whole series.

I love this series. Ever since I was a kid I love the anime with family as theme. In addition to the beautiful and vivid animation this series is really entertaining. The family behavior is nothing near to incest as some anime provided. It's purely showing the mischievous act of sisters teasing their only brother. In term of choosing short anime to be watched, I spare my time profusely to steadily watch this series.

Nil Kamui was once a peaceful and wealth country with plentiful natural resources around in one island before get invaded by the covetous ancient country namely Kouran. Kouran plundered a third of the island from west and still going for more. The country was getting worse after the country ally, D'Natia, whose their military base is on the east side of island, was defending their fort, sealed the border to defend and retaliate attack of Kouran as well as doesn't let any Nil Kamui civilian to pass through. General opinion stated this anime is horrible as far as the story continues. We don't see that coming since this segment is made just by watching the three initial episodes. Actually I had a lot of expectation before it really airs and that expectation looks assured when I watched first episode. Things are going untidy till the third episode, though. I like the character design though the main character looks too conspicuous not to mention his naive ideal. The way they composed the story is quite common and they looks a bit rushed to describe the in-war setting. Even so I like how they close the first episode. But maybe having the top notch anime figure isn't enough to guarantee everything is going to be well.

Prior to its release, I thought it's like the Queens Blade franchise since it's coming from the same maker. Then it turned out to be short anime with one and only purpose: fanservice. I like that confidence as much as the jokes. As wished, the jokes is mischievous and silly.

In imaginary world so-called 'anime', you don't need to be the strongest or the most capable to outrank others to be alpha male as it happens in animal kingdom. Rito once again strikes his very position of alpha male without any strive. By the 4th season, Rito has already secured 18 girls as his concubine. It could be more in amount since never any girls have been ended in any modest situation if Rito is found near them. The anime that brought an unique sight of super heroes. If you have watched  how the super heroes is getting commercial in Tiger & Bunny or the antihero fights in such tragedy or dark ambivalency like in Devilman, Skullman, or Zetman, well this anime is simply questioning what made people are called hero. Powered by superb costumes and awesome stunts, these super heroes aren't made to fight the giant enemies or complicated-design monsters. Instead, you are going to have fun with daily activities of the main heroine, Ichinose Hajime, even in hard times. Yes, they choose the girl as main character in super heroes-themed anime who takes the major role to uplifting the series in which contradicting idea of superheroes in a world filled with people whose eyes glued in their gizmos. 

The setting may be looks futuristic but personally I think they actually chaffs people at present a bit about how much people want to be acknowledged and rewarded for giving help. In some ideas, it looks an ideal at first but as the story continues it leads to otherwise. WHITE ASH once again performs the opening song with random rambling lyrics and good music. I have always liked every songs in their whole single and album. The ending is good too.

The story may a bit hazy, slow-paced and extravagant for people who expect a lot of cool battle. But if you want to contemplate one or two things in colorful design and delightful dialogue, you may can't resist Hajime pull-out. And now she has another girl as ally. Better watch.

Thanks to the greatness and richness of the background music, the ambience is firmly attached and strike your fancy at the right moment. But of course having the cute gothic lolita, elves, and sorceress as the harem partner would tickle more fancy.

GATE has everything that supposed to be attracting mainstream otaku and casual viewer in addition to discerning topic. Another anime with family as the theme. This anime truly has nice design characters. Cute girls in vivid color, check. Petty fanservice, check. Don't worry it's decent enough in anime standard. The idea is really novel. I think 9 siblings is more than enough to create a slice of life story. And they just added the super powers and the fact that they are the king's heir. I couldn't think more of those concept and elaborate those ideas into such simple comedy. Nice!











Sometimes what happened behind the screen is more interesting and more moe than it appears.

 

13. Sore ga Seiyuu!


Futaba Misaki is going through a period of professional seiyuu (voice artist) career. She is on her first day of voice recording for new anime to air in spring titled, Hotoke Senshi Bosatson (Buddha Fighter Bodhisattvon). She gets the role as the main mascot, though the mascot only says little, she get a chance to be regular member of the cast. Getting work along with veteran and popular seiyuu, she is feeling uneasy yet happy. Some anime has already taken the anime or manga making process as the topic, for instance Bakuman, Koe de Oshigoto!, Love Get Chu! and Shirobako. Even in voice character-ish anime there is Love Get Chu! and Koe de Oshigoto! in advance. But each one of those brings particular trait and I see even in same topic, Sore ga Seiyuu! is bringing something new and fresh.

After which, she is dragged by second year student, Ayame Kajo to join student council and finally to meet the president of student council and third year student as well that Tanukichi much expect, Nishikinomiya Anna. Apparently, there is a sneaking suspicion that Setsugen no Ao is one of the school's student. In order to enlight them more as giving more apprehension so that the student council can stop Setsugen no Ao before committing an act, Okuma is chosen as member. 

Even so, it's only a while before Tanukichi knows the real identity of Setsugen no Ao. And that meeting marks the new era of Japan. The era of ero terrorist has just begun.

Another highly anticipated anime of summer that makes you heat ablaze and sweat a lot from perverse thought. Shimoneta (下ネタ) which is a Japanese word for "dirty joke"/"blue joke"/"erotic joke" or whatsoever term you called it in your language is having the translated title specifically 'Shimoneta: A Boring World Where the Concept of Dirty Jokes Doesn't Exist', officially abbreviated as Shimoseka (下セカ) in Japan. First glimpse of the series is really interesting since they blatantly put everything about sex and things so that expedient enough to be shown in television. Yes, they put every improper content such as suspicious symbol, outrageous behavior, and loud smut at the most possible point so it eligible the airing standard yet tell you nothing but porn and ecchi things. 

The more you see it, more will be revealed not to say every episodes seems getting bolder every way through. You might get startled at first but as well as get enjoyed and feel attached to the series since this anime distinctly show improper things like no others. Classroom Crisis stories comes from nice elaboration of alot common premise. From interplanetary occupation, numerous talented student, space-engine engineering school, girly friendship, to crisis management not to mention a bit thrilling yet pleasing action. If you admire a gentle love, this series is not going to let you down. The story looks a bit slow-paced at first sight but the second you look it down it actually prepares another occurence as surprise for the next plot. The stories is getting steady every minutes while they also develop another relation of character to strengthen the stories. 

Apparently, there is one or two scene which the visual looks a little bit uneven. But it doesn't decrease the quality over all. All of the girls still looking adorable. Both of the song is appropriate though it's not the best one. It's unfortunate moment since I'm fan of ClariS. But, the BGM is kind of outclassing the rest. 

The series also cleverly nudge few corporate culture and youth persepective nowadays. First the company that too much depend on experience and elderly or seniority knowledge domination. Second the youngster who blames too much to elderly and always demands for the decent facility and whatsoever things you called 'rights.

Considering the story, it's one of best summer anime preference to recommend to casual viewers a.k.a. ordinary people.

8. God Eater


The world in 2071 is nothing more than dread and sorrow. People is feeding their hunger from their fears and feeding their thirst with tears. A creature called Aragami had destroyed almost every part of the world. When mankind is nearly on their limit, some people found a way to exterminate the Aragami. They established Fenrir, an organization to facilitate selected people who are able to use 'God Arcs', weapons made from converted Aragami cells, to fight against Aragami. 

Utsugi Lenka started a new rank as he joined Fenrir. He is a kind of what called New-Type. The rank has to fight in first frontier to defend the last hope of humanity. With their customized God Arcs, they can save humanity which has been being livestock all this time as they turned the table on the Aragami. The overpowered one who has eaten a lot and brings devastation everywhere thus be thought like such God is now being devoured in stead. Thus, those who devoured the Aragami is called God Eater.

Based on one of most renowned game which has been sold million copies throughout the world, God Eater has been receiving the anime adaptation. People especially gamer had been longing for these since it's the most probable one to be made into anime amongst similar game, Toukiden and Monster Hunter, in addition to its CG cutscene that really gives anime ambience. Further, in thus fact they somehow want to improve the anime visual, maybe inspired by the CG looks. They even barely put off the first episode just to make sure the episode passed such expected quality. The result is the most discernible visual and might be the best visual among summer anime. Thanks to this effort, the Vajra and other bigger monster looks terrifying. Personally, I love it.

It's quite hard to elaborate the story adapted from the game, not as easy as the anime originated from light novel or manga. I don't say it actually easy for real, I am just implying the degree of comparison to ease the explanation. But they give a praiseworthy job to carefully reconstruct the story based on the game. By creating original main character, the story has more space to expand the character relation among each other in which now the character could give more expression and feedback rather than being passive like in game. They also bring out the backstory of respective characters more clearly.

The respective singer who is in charge of the music whether it is opening, ending, or insert, carry out their mission well to give added value to the series. All of the elements considerably pull out the striking surge stronger when actually the anime has big gust already. I believe there was a lot of people who fell in love with the Alisa thanks to her cute appearance and notably her underboobs. You could say I'm with you but now I've been watching the series I think it's still matter, you don't say, but in any case I count every factor in to be my liking.

It's one of underrated anime in this season that I found it's well done in fact. People might be swayed and looked it down when they lay a first glance on the visual since the character design may look a bit awkward. Frankly it also happened to me in the first place. Although the premise is less acceptable which about a guy who can't lie and not able to maintain secret, I like how they develop the story so far. I never expected it turned into harem filled with otherworldly beauty. The fanservice is light, and it more leads to laughable comedy than build any sensual atmosphere. 

The soundtrack is carried out more than expected. I think they have the best BGM in this season and I have to mention that I really like the opening song. Given the harem romance story with different origin and background of the girls is cliche, they can manage to pull such story of the girls into twist and draw more curiousity and excitement to follow up the whole story. In the end the built story works well with the initial theme.

At last, this anime really fits with a wise saying 'Don't judge a book by its cover'. Oh, if you are fan of cute girls saying things in Kansai accent then you are on the same boat with me and this anime really meet our demand.

6. Ranpo Kitan: Game of Laplace

 

Just when there is already a lot of murderer cases take place in city, Kobayashi Yoshio awakes in his class with blood splattered everywhere and his teacher is found dead in unimaginable piece and pose. He takes interest in Akechi Kogorou, the young detective officially from Imperial Household Agency which helps the investigation. Paying no heed to his friend and class chief as well, Hishiba Souji advise, he get caught to Akechi game.

I got confused why the main character is so cute eventhough he is a boy. Dammit, I ain't the one who have that thought. The dakimakura (bolster cover) which has Yoshio Kobayashi print on it is already sold out on the first day of Comiket 88, the biggest doujinshi market ever. If only I have had a chance, I would have gone in a heartbeat.

As my ambivalence to this anime is as much as my disappointment for not getting Kobayashi dakimakura, the anime and the soundtrack is really mysterious. It's really in contrast with the character design while the color is sometimes drawn in monotone color to emphasize the vibe. The unimportant character is also depicted in dull color and shape and this idea is new for me. The way they were deducting the case is really unique with much ado and a bit appalling. 

The series is made to commemorate 50 years of Taro Hirai's passing, or better known as his pseudonym, Edogawa Rampo. The character itself is recurring version of the Rampo's opus. If Conan Doyle has Sherlock Holmes as the recurring character that has been adapted in various media, Edogawa Rampo has Akechi Kogoro as his fictional detective. Even some character in the anime is based on his works. Yoshio Kobayashi for instance, he is in some of Rampo's books is described as a young boys who is adept at disguise especially posing as a young woman. Ah, there's no wonder he is so cute. The first case is adapted from The Human Chair's of Edogawa Rampo Story Collection. These case is first published in October 1925. Both of opening and ending song is excellent yet the lyrics is somewhat creepy.

Asahigaoka, the dungeon where untold adventure lies ahead and our heroes reside within their guild. The heroes is 4 cute girls in such innocence and great sense of friendship consist of, the petite eight grader despite being the older sister, Koshigaya "Koma-chan" Komari; the carefree seventh grader which bigger than her sister, Koshigaya "Nattsun" Natsumi; the fully-grown fifth grader that looks more mature than her figure, Ichijou "Hotarun" Hotaru; and last, the one whom she get love at most by other member, Ren-chon!

 Actually we don't need to write a review for Non Non Biyori Repeat since the 'Repeat' subtitle is meaning as the way it is. But since we never write anything about Non Non Biyori and the fact that we wouldn't really mind how many it will get repeated, we gladly write this down. It's not really important, though, but that's exactly why this anime important. In a life that demands you to be faster, stronger, smarter, more excellent, get more achievement, all you need is simply just halt and get relaxed. Watching these kids innocently doing whatever they may find interesting is really amusing me. It might remind someone of their childhood not to say me as well. 

The series is as interesting as ever. I wouldn't expect anything less from the series. The visual is getting slightly better and in my opinion the setting visual such as bush, river, the sky is geting somewhat sharpened. They looks confirmed it by providing more time for viewer to enjoy the setting along with comforting BGM. The overall music is outstanding and content. Since the series is about the countryside living, it might be where nano.RIPE comes with the idea to bring the country string for rhytm and some melody. Do I need to say nano.RIPE is one of band I adored? On the other hand, the ending is more likely better. Either way, all of the soundtrack is really consoling. Who says you always need difficult plot to arrange such a good story if you can just happily watch them simply playing around?

Asahigaoka is lovely playground to harbored your mind and body after a long day of exhausting activities.

4. Durarara!!x2 Ten


After a great turmoil between Dollars and Toramaru in concert with Sonohara Anri versus Vorona, Ikebukuro, the groovy city that never sleeps where abnormality is ordinary, is back to normal. The motive behind Awakusu Akane kidnapping is also get enlightened. Yet it's only a while before Orihara Izaya think everything is resolved. He get stabbed amidst the crowds only in the blink of an eye by the person who introduce himself as Yodogiri Jinnai seconds later. 

After Izaya get his karma, he get hospitalized and wait for someone. He knows someone will come over to him after all happened. Just when he guessing the person who will come is someone he knows or say the least he expected, another unexpected person comes to him.
Another storm will hit the city when anew intricate relationship in the past is going to be unveiled.

Fulfilling its promise to provide a full-length Durarara!! continuation, the story already arrives to second cour before entering the third and the last cour in Januari 2016. The first, foremost, and the best thing ever of Durarara!! series is but the plot. In order to establish and maintain such plot they need two condition that demands considerable amounts that is episodes and characters.

Since its origin is coming from light novel all the more its longetivity, it's just natural that they get a lot of episodes, even for light novel adaptation. Durarara!! series had begun with a great deal of characters too in amount. Furthermore, in Durarara!! x2 the characters is just multiplied for the sake of story. That's no wonder the series only captivates but only a little amount of new viewer since it's hard to tell for beginner about what's going on. But for those who've been patiently waiting and following for another wondrous moment and in-between intricate conflict, Durarara!! is worth to redeem. 

Durarara!! as ever provides forward and backward plot at the same time. The conflict has already begun from the very first episode and since it has planned to be divided into three parts, it is more likely there will be never-ending conflict until the very last cour even when things look getting calmer. There is no detectable change in animation quality from the previous cour since it is good already. As always the series is filled with awesome soundtrack. Toyonaga Toshiyuki himself who voices Ryuugamine Mikado, the main character, is performing the opening song. It's hard to believe that the man who ranked 7th nationwide in the drummania ranking is actually has weighter voice rather than fragile voice as shown in his role in Durarara!!. What a talent!

For those who has been wondering what will hapen to respective characters since only read a few of the light novels like me or not even once, well I can only say one thing. Cheers!

3. Akagami no Shirayuki-hime


Shirayuki is a local herbalist with exceptional beauty. His beauty is all the more renowned throughout the city thanks to her radiant red hair. Moreover, her eagerness to learn herbs and medication is as much as her kindness to provide convenient treatment to any kind of people. Unfortunately, her good deed has to cease since the selfish and idiotic prince of the Tabarun country, Raji Shenazard want to keep her by himself as his concubine. Having no intention to pay his order, Shirayuki cut her hair and leave the cutting in store then runs away from the country across the country border and spends the night near a lodge. 

A turn of fate come over her when she runs into Zen Wistalia Clarines and heals his bruise. When Zen eats apple that actually addressed for Shirayuki, it appears it was poisoned and it was sent by Raji henchman. In exchange for the antidote, Shirayuki has to come to castle and become Raji concubine. What will she choose?

I really have a good impression just after a few minutes the story began. The visual is really admirable as much as Shirayuki beauty. As for the story, it is the most charming and enchanting story of the season. It is about the hard working and self-reliant beauty that just simply wants to follow her eagerness to be useful herbalist. In the midst of path, she has to overcome any obstacle. Due to his good deed and attitude, fate conspired to get her a fair prince. The story is well, heart-warming and easy to grasp. If you are girl it could make your heart fluttering. The upside down life of hers is as dynamic as your expectation of the series while your're awaiting the lovely moment. In fact, thus upside down is what makes the story interesting which indeed actually reflects our daily life. Still, the trend of story is showing the show is going the right way. Then, darn! the ship has sailed at the right moment. My chance to get another perfect waifu is getting lost. But, that proves the stories going well. 

Few try to compare things with how things work in some shounen anime, such as plot and pace. Of course it can't be accepted since it's way too much different in genre. It's more classified to shoujo anime and it's obvious really. But they can arrange so it can match both tastes.

If you think another BGM is already satisfying, you can add this one to your bucket list. It's not that big matter actually, but the soundtrack makes you felt like living the fairytale. The visual is well rendering, though there is some flaws due to rushing work of close deadline.

It might the lost tale you look for that you had missed when you were a kid.

2. Rokka no Yuusha


As the legend says, six heroes are chosen by the Goddess of Fate when the Demon God arise from its slumber. It was about millennium ago that The Goddess that once the Saint of Single Flower is the first soul who put the Demon God back to its slumber. Upon her return, above her temple she said the Demon God and its creation, Fiends will get back for revenge. To fight back upon their revival, the Goddess chooses the Heroes that will succeed her blessings. The Heroes will get a petal of the flower whose the Goddess bore, each one of them. The petal will turn into the mark over the heroes body. Thus, they also called The Braves of the Six Flowers (Rokka no Yuusha).

The time of another revival has come. It means the new generation of Six Heroes will be chosen. As the legend said, to prove their self worth, one must whow their might in the temples of the Goddess of Fate built by her previous self, the Saint of the Single Flower. Adlet Mayer, a man that always boasts that he is the strongest man in the world, improperly intervenes a tournament held by country of Piena and challenged the participants out of nowhere. In point of fact, he win with no sweat by using cleverly tricks and impressively agile moves. In consequence of the moment, he is taken into custody and get arrested. When another sign of Demon God emerge, the sign that Adlet wants for, The Crest of Six Flowers, finally appear on his hand.

Another blockbuster that I've been waiting for in person has finally come. The series took Maya and Aztec atmosphere as the setting, though Maya looks more dominant. It is really rare to take such culture as the setting and they reimagined the whole city and setting beautifully. The main character, Adlet also use one of most primitive weapon in history, a food weapon in particular that Mayan had invented, tear gas. As the story goes on, there is a character named Fremy Speeddraw that use gun as her weapon. The Mayan never developed neither cannon or gunpowder, let alone the gun. But it's true they lived in the era when they see those weapon was brought by the Spanish. Furthermore, the city when the characters meet each other resembles few of Mayan landmarks, for instance Temple of Inscription or better known as The Tomb of King Pacal. They really did a thorough research to build a sturdy setting. Well done!

 I really like all of the characters design. It is neat and beautiful. The way they move in battle is also way too cool for a series. All of the character, setting, and also the fiends is depicted in colorful ambience to preserve the anime-ish atmosphere. The BGM is kind of top-class that bring out the surge of adventure and battle feels. The first OP and ED is brought by MICHI, a promising newcomer and it doesn't make the songs any bad, it turned out really good instead. The story isn't as simple as beating the Demon God. Furthermore, they create a fact that there is 7 heroes in existence, that could mean one of them is imposter. Coming with all promising qualities, I'm pretty sure you wouldn't want to miss the show.

1. Kangoku Gakuen (Prison School)


Hachimitsu Private Academy was used to be girls-only boarding high schools with outstanding record as a college prep-school intended for talented young and good breeding girls not to mention the discipline they uphold highly. Word is that due to the change of council chairman, there is slightly change of policy. As of the year the school starts taking in boys as students. The lucky boys who has been accepted are as follows, Morokuzu Takehito a.k.a. Gakuto, Wakamoto Shingo a.k.a. Shingo, Fujino Kiyoshi a.k.a. Kiyoshi, Nezu Jouji a.k.a. Joe, Andou Reiji a.k.a. Andre.

The gender ratio for male-to-female now changed to 1:200. Never mind their dreams or their virginity, some of them even never talked to girls yet. Having all favors on them as well as the urge passion of youth, they can't help themselves but to start an operation: peeping girls' baths. Rumor says, there is Underground Student Council that always watching over student wherever the crows is around. While they are getting excited that Kiyoshi luckily conduct the operation, they aren't wary that the crows is flying all around. It's a jiffy before all the boys undergo their long-time ordeal as prisoners.

We finally arrive at the first rank of review. Before that, there are only few anime that capable to make me laugh hardly including Gintama. Now I got my hands on this anime. I've had heard that the manga is quite some talks. And the anime just proves it accurate. Ever since the first episode you can see they performed really well. No, it starts even from when you see the characters. Each of the characters has their own unique traits and gimmicks. Andre face that resembles Buddha in statue but all the parts of face such as mouth, eyes, nose, is relatively small compared to his entire face. The talkative Gakuto that always talks in hyperactive mode. The way he composes his word is due to his fondness of Three Kingdoms saga story. Joe has fragile body and nasty canker throat as he always coughing up blood. The most (looking) normal is likely Shingo and Kiyoshi. 

As how they worked up together to successfully peeping the girls, they unwittingly worked like a team of comedian that being able to react to each others' act quickly. Do you know how the comedy works really well? You unconsciously provides farce and still having a serious face with that. The way they animate the characters expression especially the boys is exceptionally funny and silly not to mention how they elaborate the escape plan is way too awesome and unbelievable at the same time. The pace runs effective without any delay and it doesn't take much time to bring them to prison which is the main story. The story develops in a way that is obvious but still makes you wonder if it works well or not. As such the moment you see it occurs until the next stage of plan really builds a kind of suspense. And they really give us a damn by leaving most of the episodes in cliffhanger.

Sometimes the setting of ordeal is cool, but most of it is really raunchy. You can see those body, right buddy? The way they use lego to characterize the plan is unique. The anime was supported by awesome play of OP and ED sung by the people who voiced the boys. 

There is nothing we can't do but to be amused by this extreme comedy of adolescence.

We're really sorry and thank to anyone who still reads some parts since we're really aware that our post is kind of overdue. Ever wonder what if we create our version of this season songs in rank? What, no thanks? No, we don't accept it. Here is our staff picks for the songs.


It's true that there are few of unique song as for this season such as Kakushinteki☆Metamaruphose! from Himouto! Umaru-chan or Honey♥Come!! from Joukamachi no Dandelion. It's not that bad yet we can't say it's good though just imagining those songs made us tingling somehow. Even so, the songs always wander in our mind. But nonetheless that is the result anyway.

Nah, we just don't mean any bad. So let us bother you another time. Mata ne!
