[ONGOING REVIEW] CHANNEL JAPAN
"Welcome to Channel Japan. I'm Mai Demizu. And I'm Makiko Utsuda.Every week we bring you the freshest information out of Japan from our studio here in Tokyo. From the economy, to culture, even food, if you want to find out what's happening in Japan right now, this is the way you'll find it."
That's one of the program opening. It covers all what this is about. The program is delivered by two news anchor as introduced above, Mai Demizu as TBS Announcer and Makiko Utsuda as Nikkei Staff Writer. There is also Maki Arai as announcer. Usually Mai-san brings the topic based on current issue and Makiko-san describes the in-depth coverage by bringing the data regarding the topic. Maki-san has the same role with Mai-san and they're alternately presenting the program by times. This program is fully brought in English dubbed but sometimes it featured as English subtitles for the Japanese speaker who contributes the information.
For the time being, there is stereotype that Japanese is bad English speaker since there is a limit of their kana vowel unlike usual alphabet. If you think it's also happened in Channel Japan, you couldn't be more wrong. Both of them speak English tremendously. You will hear two different accent from the anchor. While Mai-san and Maki-san speaks English with US accent as the narrator does, you will hear Makiko-san speaks English with UK accent! Yes, there is a narrator and he dominates the talk most of time so you can enjoy the footage explanation. Since they are using an interesting sentence by placing the right word in right order combined by popular term and smart idiom, I found their narrative isn't boring. Here you can always learn a new word, term, or idiom. I also convince you that you can hear their voice as clear as TOEFL or IELTS exam you've been gone through or even better.

Borrowing some words from Nikkei, Japan is well known for an original powerhouse for economy, home for the latest pop culture, center of cutting-edge technology, and a country with a big idea. We have been hearing what they're capable of, and how big their commitment to their work. This kind of attitude lead to a new way of thinking for solving problems and elaborating innovation that really useful for industry and business sustainability. This is the main idea that Channel Japan brings up worldwide.
Normally, there is 5 segments running for about 60 minutes for every edition. Each segment has its own names and has different scope in particular. As I'm aware, there is 2 set of segment compilation that being played alternately for week. First set consists of Project Japan, 2 segment of World Business Satellite, Takumi, and Dawn of Gaia that only can be seen on CNBC Asia. Another set consist of Channel Japan Ranking, Japanese Dream, Gacchiri Monday, and Dawn of Gaia. If you want to know more you can pay a visit to official site. You also can watch on stream on USTREAM. Don't worry, you don't really have to pay at all.
If you watch on Metro TV you only can enjoy 30 minutes every Sunday. So it only leaves 2 or 3 segment for every edition. I don't know the reason. Every week you will be told about things happening in Japan. You will get amazed how can they have such brilliant idea to make things go on a roll. Even the commercial is really stunning. You will see some commercial from top corporation in Japan and their concept is really good. This program is dedicated to those who want to update themselves about cutting-edge product or services, entrepreneur which needs an idea for improving or seeks business opportunities, inbound traveler who looks for the beautiful tourist destination and most popular restaurant, or just simply want to know more about Japan in moderate perspective. No matter what kind of your intention, if you want to enlighten your mind this is the program you have to watch!
If you are happened to live in Indonesia, watch it on Metro TV on Sunday, 07.05 AM West Indonesia Time (WIB). This show has been airing for 37 episodes and the past episode is quite hard to find so don't miss it.

[ONGOING REVIEW] GINGA E KICKOFF!!
I guess you have had watched several football-themed (or soccer, whatever you call it) anime. There is a ton of football-themed anime that was considered leaving good impression like Captain Tsubasa; Aoki Densetsu Shoot!; Offside; Whistle!; Ganbare, Kickers!, and many more. As for me, I really love Ganbare, Kickers! at most. Whether it's just personal assumption, I don't find other similar normal football anime can pick my interest up. No, Captain Tsubasa isn't included in count not to mention it's hyperbole. Those consideration has been going to steady until I find this anime. You will find other anime just aim to win local or national championship, or even World Cup. But, our friend in Ginga e Kickoff!! is little bit different. They were aiming to be the best of Galaxy!
It's not that silly. When we was lil' brat, we must be doing the same thing. Oh come on, they were just elementary school students. But their love to soccer and their ambition to win the championship was really true. In fact, the story is well built.
The story tells about Oota Shou, a sixth grader whose his team, Momoyama Predators, just disbanded. Although he doesn't really excels at football, he loves football deep down in his heart and willingly recreate the team someday. He meets Takatou Erika who just transferred from Osaka. She once was an ace from his former team. Despite having an outstanding dribbling speed and running, she is often underestimated since she was a girl. When Shou tried to recruit her in team, she refuses it. She said she didn't want to join a weak team but she agreed to practice together.
Soon they run into Shimizu Misaki, a pro football woman player that practiced in park. After a little talk, she decides to have a mini-game with them. Of course, she could win easily. Just before the practice session had ended, Shou once again asked for challenge and managed to steal the ball this time. After they practiced, Misaki realizes that though Shou is quite average he has a good observations and perceptions. Later Shou has a good visions in placing a player based on current situation in field and predicting enemy and ball movement. After watching Misaki plays, Erika also learns that woman can play as pro and becomes a great player as well. She notices that there is a 'room' for her to enhance his skill with Shou.
Together they create Momoyama Predators once again and meet various interesting people such as Furuya Brothers consist of Kota, Ryuji, Ouzou, that called Triplet Demons due to their excellence at playing football in arrogant way; Saionji Reika, that plays for diet to begin with but train nonstop to equal the team; Hanashima Masaru, a former pro football player that turn out to drunkard. By the guidance of Masaru as coach, a new Momoyama Predators will encounter other strong team and aim to win city tournament and go higher. Of course there is also a new team member to be introduced forth.
The scene taking and angle of view of field is pretty standard. But when it takes to ball dribbling it's well animated on detail. When their team costume is lack of detail and similar to AC Milan, the character design is really match with the personality. Simple yet nice. The design of Erika is good-looking and hearty while Reika looks cute and charming.
The story runs quite steadily yet compelling with easy to follow slice-of-life. Each character get their own flashback that makes them as they are right now. This is one of best aspect the story offers because there is some quite thrilling emotional occurence. Somehow it reminds me to Ganbare, Kickers! a few. It also features some appealing training that appeared in real football training as well like, agility training, Sepak Takraw (Kick Volleyball) and rarely known Blind Soccer. It's really an unique and new thing in its kind. There is also a bit romance that makes the story delicate. This set of emotional package combined with challenging competition and encouraging training is going to win your heart completely.
As a personal note, I love the ending song, Ame Tokidoki Hare Nochi Niji (Sometimes After the Rain Clears There's a Rainbow) by Fuudan-juku. If you have an inquiries to know why such a girl can play together and join as team with boy, actually it allowed. The truth is FIFA doesn't state any rule to distinct team between boy and girls. But as a matter of facts, there is so many clubs and associations have separate league and championship to make the game balance and to simplify the match regulation. Even the Unites States Youth Futsal allows the girls and older to play with boys in their rule. Ah, you also can watch anime version of Christiano Ronaldo, Lionel Messi, Mario Balotelli, Wayne Rooney, and Robin Van Persie in this series.
This show is airing on Sunday, 08.30 AM West Indonesia Time (WIB) on Indosiar. The name has been adapted to be Galaxy Kick Off. It has been reaching episode 26 of 39 as of December 14th, 2014. Set your alarm because it's peak is about to start.
